Not ready for prime time.

8:19 pm Category: minutiae

I have spent the better part of the weekend in front of the computer working on both the freelance design AND my own personal redesign. Here’s a sneak peek at what the new look of researchgirl.com is going to be. At long last, it will be a global CSS… for consistency.

I even created a little Flash button to rotate the different t-shirts available in my spreadshirt.com store. I don’t think I’ll actually make any solid revenue off of them, but I like them and want to share. I’m a little egotistical like that.

SO… Italy won the World Cup! I was watching and it was pretty wacky. The French captain was thrown out of the game for head-butting an Italian player in the chest. They were having some verbal back-and-forth and he finally just ran around in front of him and butted him in the sternum with his big shaved head. It was nasty. The winner was decided through penalty kicks since even after both overtime sequences, they were still tied 1-1.

I was happy for Italy. They were so exuberant and clearly overjoyed to win… they were dancing on the field and jumping around like little kids. It was absolutely uncontrived and guileless; they were just HAPPY. With good reason.

My brother, his girlfriend and I went out for Indian food afterwards and on the way to the restaurant, we saw about 10 cars driving around with HUGE Italian flags waving off of the roofs, out of the windows, or mounted in the tailgates of trucks. In downtown Montclair, there were some teenagers standing on the corner waving the Italian flag at cars as they drove by, so we gave the kids a wave and a thumbs-up… there was some nice good-will in the air… in heavily Italian-populated northern New Jersey :)
I am still full of delicious palak paneer and chick peas and other stuff. I stuck with the vegetarian offerings for some reason.

Now it’s 8:30 and I really feel like I’ve done nothing this weekend. I’m going to clean my room for a bit and do some laundry since I don’t think I’ll have a thing to wear to work otherwise. Wait - I have some skirts. I can put off the laundry for another day or two. Skirts are good like that.

A cup of tea would be nice. I’m going to go brew one up and do some crossword puzzles - NOT on the computer.
