AT&T Bell Labs
Text to Speech - now your computer can talk!
Engrish - Engrish can be simply defined
as the humorous English mistakes that appear in Japanese advertising and product
design...
BBC Radio One Homepage - get GOOD
music here! Check out their dance and alt charts ;)
e-Scrabble - so it's not entirely mindless;
it's Scrabble.
Flashified - this is
a Flash page a dear sweet friend of mine designed for a college course; she
promptly forgot how to do everything, but her dancing cake animation cracks
me up everytime.
Hollywood Pinups - glamour shots
of celebrities from the 30s, 40s and 50s. Awesome for Photoshop fun or for cool
desktop art...
Homestar Runner - home of StrongBad email. I guarantee you will at least
crack a smile.
Indie 103.1 - This is an independent
radio station over on the West coast... that's California. While discussing
the utter lack of GOOD radio stations in the NY metro area that we can receive
in NJ, my friend suggested this. They play a great mix of the 80's, 90's, punk,
rock, indie and other stuff.
The Internet Anagram Server
- ELVIS CRASH RAG FREE = RESEARCHGIRLS FAVE
Objective: Christian Ministries
- NOTE: this site is a parody. It's a really amusing parody, but if you're religiously
inclined, you might be offended. Check out the 4 Kidz page for a really good
time!! Excavate every crevice of the insanity (as my sister put it...)
Orisinal - some really good
Flash games designed by Ferry Halim...
Pucca Club - Pucca is an amazingly cute
Korean character. The site offers lots of cute-ass wallpaper, downloads, and
even cross-stitch patterns! I'm at a disadvantage since I don't read Korean,
though. At least the Flash animation is fun to watch and listen to!
Shockwave - free online games
for when Solitaire gets old
SeanBaby feat. SuperFriends
- humorous observations re: SuperFriends
The Surrealist Compliment Generator - when you're feeling blue, this will
either turn you right around or confuse the heck out of you.
Thundercats
Outtakes - listen to Mumm-Ra say dirty things and Snarf swear!

Life in a Bungalo - music reviews,
interviews, and other cool stuff...

blog/web diary/running social commentary by a fantastic chica. She's teaching
Women's Studies at Rutgers and has many interesting things to say and reflect
upon.
Revolution Earth Productions
- my friend's film production company. I've watched their film, "Shorty"
- it's wonderful and so REAL. Read about it on the site... buy a copy!
Script Coach/Editor Elizabeth!
- besides showing incredibly good taste by being my friend, this lovely
lady is a brilliant writer, script editor and film FANATIC. Such creativity!
Such attention to detail! Such talent! If anyone you know needs some script,
screenplay or other such editing, contact this woman!
Supz.org - this is my bro's site about
random computer stuff, politics, etc., and it actually contains quite a
bit of information regarding metrosexuals (fragrances to wear, how to shave,
etc.) Quality stuff. 31337.
Veggiegirl - my friend's site re:
vegetarian living and kindness to our animal friends

American Apparel
Archie McPhee - the mother ship of novelty
goods - if you're not near Copabananas.
Baby Peach - These are handbags each
handmade by a lady named Momoko Kanaoka ("Momo") and they're incredibly
original, beautiful, funky, cute and all sorts of other adjectives, depending
on which one you're talking about. They are one-of-a-kind creations and she
does not make more of the same...
Case Closed Bags - if you want
a funkier carrying method or portage for your laptop, iPod, or other such
technological implement, this site offers some truly funky and affordable
alternatives. (I am a proud owner of the silver "Sheldon" case
for my dear little iPod!)
Cheap Joe's Art Supplies - the name
says it all, but it's so much better than that! Their catalog is whimsically
clever and wonderful and they honestly do sell the best products at some outrageously
good prices. It makes me wish I HAD gone to art school :(
Common Sense Farm - a farm in NY that makes natural skin, bath and hair
care products which are really nice and gentle. I love their baby lotion ("not
just for babies", as the label states) and their Cypress Lemon lotion.
Copabananas - novelty goods aplenty
(in Montclair). If you need to buy mullet shampoo...
Crackers and Honey - Ilana's
friend runs this joint and handmakes all these adorable purses, undies, pouches
and the zine. I was jealous of the little bunny
purse.
Culture Couture - an awesome boutique
in Montclair, NJ (aka: a place where you can get Gama-Go t-shirts, American
Apparel items, NYLA shoes, and all sorts of awesome clothing and accessories
for peeps with taste!)
Crazy Aaron's Putty World - Home
of the amazing thinking putty. OK, it's really just silly putty in really
cool colors including iridescent and glow-in-the-dark shades, but I think
it's a fantastic little treat for you or for friends who need to relax during
the day...
Emitations - hey, girls. We love shiny
sparkly things as much as the next pigeon, right? Mmmm. No. But if you want
to get yourself a crazy bling-bling ring to shut up annoying relatives or
just feel like you're wealthier than you are, then this is the site for you.
Emitations serves up affordable replicas of the $20K+ jewelry celebrities
wear. It's fun.
Eziba - their catalog includes amazing
"ethnic" jewelry, clothing and home decor to suit almost any taste:
from ultra-modern to Laura Ashley romantic.
Fabric 8: A Boutique of Independent Design
- awesome t-shirts for guys and chicks, and much other awesome stuff.
Fridgedoor - if you want GOOD magnets
instead of the kind you get at rest stops... (though those have some kitsch
value as well.)
Funky Chunky Handbags - ohmigodthecutestpursesever!!!
Sorry about the gushing. Really cute bags and most aren't even mad $$.
GamaGo - I adore their artwork and I especially
enjoy their girlie fit t-shirts. Such soft cotton, such adorable artwork.
Go and visit for yourself. Each season's designs are limited editions, so
once they're gone, they're gone and you have yourself some nice wearable artwork!
Jenni Bick Bookbinding - I am a sucker when it comes to beautiful journals
and blank books. It's a good thing I didn't find this site when I had expendable
income, because I would have been ordering personally embossed leather journals
for all my friends as Christmas and b-day gifts. Aww, yeah.
KidRobot - fun toys and action figures at exorbitant prices if you're
not a serious collector. Just tell yourself it's stunning yet affordable sculpture.
Lush - the BEST body care products
ever. The products are still freshly handmade, and not prohibitively expensive,
so order some bath ballistics and have fizzy fun! They recently opened a shop
in NYC and I'm definitely going to do some damage over there.
MoMA Store - MoMA sells many lovely things beyond prints of paintings
and reproductions of sculpture. I purchased a snazzy business card holder
and stationery here.
Mr. Winkle - I didn't know exactly
where to classify him, but you can buy lots of adorable stuff on his site,
so here it is. Mr. Winkle is, officially, the cutest dog in the world. Proof
below.
- show pride for your 'hood, your self, your fave band or anything else with
these awesome custom personalized and hand-sewn hoodie sweatshirts, etc.
Polaire - This is chick-made-to-order
merchandise such as messenger bags, purses and other goodies. You'll have
a one of a kind item made just for you!!
Uncommon Goods - lots of cool stuff
to get and give. Jewelry, knick-knacks, office supplies, and random luxury
items.
West
Elm - this is a super chill home decor and furnishing catalog / company
/ store. Certain items are a little pricey, but you can find some amazing
stuff within the average 20-30 something's range that will dress up your Ikea
or Target furnishings quite snazzily.
Here are places I actually spent most of the money I have to burn:
Best Buy - A gift certificate to Best
Buy is something I'll never frown upon.
Harmon Cosmetics - Sometimes,
when I'm down, a new bottle of nail polish will raise my spirits like nothing
else.
Ikea - Ikea is largely responsible
for the furnishings in my room and my former apartment.
Target - 'nuff said. I love Target.
The following are great places to buy used books:
• ABE Books
• Alibris
• Bookfinder
Here are other book-related sites:
BookCrossing
- I encourage everyone to register at bookcrossing and release some books
into the wild. It's a cool little exercise ;)
BookSense - BookSense.com is a family of independent-bookseller websites. (And it's the e-commerce arm of the American Booksellers Association's Book Sense program.) They do a great job of recommending books- they haven't led me astray yet.
Mostly Fiction - Recommendations, reviews and other goodies.
Adbusters
- some may find it ironic that this link is on here right below my "fun
places to spend money" links. Personally, I think there's a different
between rampant, uneducated , ignorant consumerism and having some awareness
about where your money is going.
American Humanist Association
- learn a little something about a different belief system that I think I
agree with 98%... lots of interesting articles if you crack open their journal,
too!

source

dictionary isn't enough to help you understand the world around you.
Bibliomania - FREE online literature
- if you feel like reading a classic to get you out of the postmodern doldrums...
Compendium of Lost Words
- if you're a word geek, you will enjoy this. Lots of fun stuff to get you
amazing Scrabble scores!!
Dictionary.com - Is the MS
Word thesaurus falling short of your vocabulary needs? Are you too lazy to
get up and crack open the dictionary to make sure you're using "facinorous"
correctly? You can check here and also sign up for their daily word mailing
list!
Digs Magazine - awesome site for
the hipster generation re: having your own place and living like a grown-up
Facets Multimedia - "located in Chicago,
Illinois and founded in 1975, this is a non-profit media arts organization
which provides an extraordinary range of film and video programs." They
really do have an amazing selection of DVDs and videos. Order their full catalogue
if you can; it's a great resource for film buffs.
Food TV - their recipe search rocks
and their articles are informative, too.
Google News - aggragate news information
from around the world, updated!
A Handbook of Rhetorical
Devices - People often ask me about rhetorical devices and literary terms
since that's what I went to college for. This site gives you a good deal of
information and definitions that are pretty straightforward.
Harvard Dialect
Study - a really fascinating study conducted by Harvard students; state-by-state
results will show you some interesting stuff... or maybe I'm just a BIG GEEK!
Internet Movie Database (IMDb) - possibly
the best site around for answering all your movie questions. Info about actors,
directors, filmographies, reviews and synopses
My Healthy Penis - a site devoted
to sexual health information for men. It's the first of its kind I've seen,
and that's why it's here and on the sex page.
Urban Dictionary - this is a
site where average Joes and Janes can weigh in on their definitions of words
currently in the common tongue...
Urban Legend De-bunking -
I am often inundated with email warning me about dialing phone numbers, wearing
tampons, using my cell phone and all other sorts of scare tactics. BEFORE
you go and send that forward, search for it on this page and see if it's legitimate.
Save your friends' email space.
WordSpy - his Web site is devoted to
recently coined words and phrases, and to old words that are being used in
new ways. These aren't "stunt words" or "sniglets," but
new terms that have appeared multiple times in newspapers, magazines, books,
Web sites, and other recorded sources.

and it's prime tea-drinking time...

I most certainly welcome any link recommendations you'd like to throw my way. There are certainly things I haven't put up here yet because I haven't had the time, but there may be something I don't even know about yet... you can email me... I don't get nasty unless people are nasty to me :)
